Enhancing your tasks with notes
Notes are a fantastic way to add more context to your tasks. Whether you want to jot down some bullet points, reminders, or even a full-blown brainstorm, notes have got you covered. And the best part? They are fully shareable when you share your tasks, making collaboration easy.
What are notes?
Notes are additional pieces of information you can attach to a task. They can range from a single sentence to mini novels, providing a space for extra context, ideas, or any other information that supports the task at hand.
Adding notes
Adding a note to a task
To add a note to a task you are currently viewing, simply click the 'Notes' button located underneath the task title.
- Find the 'Notes' button underneath the task title.
- Clicking it will take you to a separate notes page for that task.
- Start typing away. Your notes will be saved automatically.
Alternatively press the "n" key when you have no tasks selected.
Adding a note to a subtask
Adding a note to a subtask follows a similar process:
- Locate the subtask you want to add a note to
- Click on the menu icon on the right of the subtask, and then select 'Notes'
- You'll be navigated to the notes page for that subtask
- Type your notes. All changes are saved automatically
Alternatively press the "n" key when you have the subtask selected.
Viewing and editing notes
When a note has been added to a task, a yellow/orange note icon will appear underneath the task title. Similarly, if a note has been added to a subtask, the icon will appear next to the subtask title.
- Clicking on the note icon or "Notes" button will take you to the notes page for that task
- Make any necessary changes and your edits are saved automatically
Deleting Notes
To delete a note:
- Navigate to the notes page of the task or subtask
- Click on the "Clear notes" button
- You'll be prompted to confirm your decision. Once confirmed, the note will be deleted permanently
Alternatively press the "del" or "backspace" keys when the text area is out of focus (i.e. you're not typing in it - you can press "esc" to exit the text area).
Navigating to tasks
There are two ways to navigate away from the notes page:
Back to the previous page:
- Click the "Back" button in the top left of the notes page
Alternatively press the "←" key when the text area is out of focus
Go to the associated task page:
- Click the "Go to task" button in the top left of the notes page
Alternatively press the "↑" key when the text area is out of focus
Sharing Notes
When you share a task, the associated notes are shared along with it, providing extra value and context to anyone who duplicates your shared tasks.
You can also link a user directly to the notes page of a task by copying the URL of the notes page.
If another user chooses to copy your task, they can select whether to include notes or not.
Privacy
Notes are opt-in and entirely under your control. They are private by default and only become public when you share a task.
